St. Thomas, Virgin Islands! What are you looking for in a great Caribbean vacation? Do you want beautiful white sand beaches - You got it!  How about excellent shopping at great prices - It's in St. Thomas.  Want fabulous resorts and great dining? St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands has both. So if it is all in St. Thomas, what are you waiting for?  Come on let us go explore all that St. Thomas has in store for you!

Whatever beach atmosphere you are looking for, whether its active with lots of water sports or a resort beach with nice restaurant and bar or maybe an unpopulated wind blown beach for meditation, St. Thomas has you covered!

Note:  All beaches in the Virgin Islands are open to the public, however property beyond the tree line is often private and should be respected.  A few beaches have resorts close by and while the beach itself might be open to all, the resort amenities in most cases are for hotel guests only. This includes chairs, umbrellas, water sports gear, towels, floats, swimming pools, tennis courts etc.  In some cases non-hotel guests can pay and rent chairs and water sports equipment. Swimming pools in almost all cases are reserved for hotel guests only

When it comes to choosing a place to stay on St. Thomas, there is an accommodation for every taste; from a fancy all inclusive resort to a family oriented hotel on the beach.  You can stay at a romantic bed and breakfast overlooking Charlotte Amalie or a large private villa nestled in the hills.

The town of Charlotte Amalie, offers an assortment of island inns.  A few hotels are available in town and on beachfront property in the vicinity of the airport, just outside of town.  Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the USVI, serves as a hub of activity offering easy access to world-renowned shopping, historic sites, great restaurants and fun bars.  Popular beaches and attractions, outside of town, are generally only a 15-25 minute drive away.

We like many visitors explore Charlotte Amalie to shop rather than to look at history.  The proximity of the historic buildings to the stores however, makes it easy to enjoy both.  To really embrace the historical sights you must look beyond the shops, vendors and people.  Try to picture the past; complete with forts, plantations, warehouses and pirates, among the many other images of St. Thomas' History. Exploring Charlotte Amalie is a rewarding experience and easily done on foot (wear comfortable shoes).

You can always go on a Self-guided Walking Tour. You can take a self guided walking tour of Charlotte Amalie's primary historic sights.  This list is not comprehensive, in fact most of the buildings in Charlotte Amalie are historically noteworthy; including many of the buildings that today house shops and boutiques.  Visit the attractions in the order listed, reverse order or plan your own route by visiting just the sights that interest you.

The is a well visited site and we have made the trip many times in our life and will again.
